A wild bird seed mixture such as our bumblebird mix has been specially designed to attract and provide food for farmland birds such as tree sparrows and corn buntings. These nutritious seed mixtures are the perfect combination of cereals and seed-bearing plants that are so rich in pollen and nectar that pollinators and insects can benefit from them as well as the birds. Bumblebees and butterflies are especially attracted to this bumblebird mix.

The goal of the Bumblebird seed mixture with the Countryside Stewardship scheme is to provide the local wildlife with an important food source while also increasing the population of important pollinators like butterflies, solitary bees and hoverflies.

The 2-year autumn sown bumblebird mix is ideal for farmers who are involved in the stewardship schemes and should be sown between the months of June and September. In late summer, after harvest, an established crop will contain a rich seed mixture that features a variety of flower species as well as seed-bearing crops. In the second spring after sowing, we recommend topping the plot before mid-March to promote further legume flowering. During the growing season, farmers will see a rich and abundant supply of pollen and nectar-rich flowers which is perfect for protecting the local birds and insect populations.
